Early Career in Healthcare

Cathy began her career as a Registered Nurse, Assistant Nurse Manager, and Discharge Planner at Sisters Hospital in Buffalo, NY. In 1997, Cathy joined Tops Markets, LLC as a Medical Case Manager managing workers’ compensation claims, helping associates access the treatments and services they needed to recover from their injuries as quickly as possible.

Advancement in the Field of Human Resources

Putting her hand up when opportunities presented themselves at Tops Markets, Cathy transitioned into HR as the Manager of Compensation, Benefits & HRIS. She held that position until 2004 when she joined American Sales Company. After just three years, she was promoted to Senior Human Resources Business Partner, serving as the HR leader at the Lancaster, NY distribution center for almost a decade. 

In 2016, Cathy provided HR leadership to American Sales Company in the closing of the distribution facility.  She and her team helped 600 people successfully transition into new job opportunities across Buffalo and the surrounding business community. Following the facility closing, Cathy was Director of Human Resources at Allwel, a provider of home health care services in Western New York, where challenging the status quo, she introduced the concept of an employee-centric organizational culture and implemented alternative methods to enhance the employee experience.

Entrepreneur, Business Owner, and Instructor

After working in human resources for over 15 years, reviewing thousands of résumés and interviewing hundreds of candidates, Cathy wanted to share her expertise and knowledge to help individuals looking for a new job, or a different career, and help them get the edge they needed to succeed.  So, in January 2017, she launched Write-Résumé-For-The-Job. In October 2018, she became the new owner of Inspire Careers, Inc. Based in WNY since 1990, Inspire Careers was founded by nationally renowned writer and career coach Beth Stefani, serving the résumé writing and career management needs of executives around world. Sadly, Ms. Stefani passed away earlier this year and Cathy was handpicked to be her successor to continue the work of Inspire Careers in conjunction with Write-Résumé-For-The-Job.

In addition to leading her successful business, Cathy is also an adjunct professor at Niagara University in Lewiston, NY teaching Human Resources Management to students in the College of Business. She has also served as a guest lecturer at The Buffalo Academy of the Sacred Heart in Eggertsville, NY for the senior internship students, advising on résumé writing and career preparation techniques to set them up for success as they begin their college careers.

2018 ROAR Award Winner and Published Résumé Writer

Cathy recently returned from Seattle, Washington where she accepted the 2018 ROAR Award for New Writers Modern Classic Résumé at the annual National Résumé Writers’ Association conference. This month, she will have a new college graduate résumé published in Modernize Your Résumé: Get Noticed…Get Hired, 2nd Ed., Emerald Career Publishing.

Credentials

Cathy holds an MBA and BS in Business Management from the State University of New York.  She obtained national certifications as a Certified Professional Résumé Writer (CPRW), Certified Professional Career Coach (CPCC), Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR), Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), and retains an active NYS license as a Registered Nurse.  She is a member of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and Buffalo Niagara Human Resource Association (BNHRA). Cathy is also a member of the Professional Association of Résumé Writers & Career Coaches (PARWW/CC), The National Résumé Writers’ Association (NRWA) and Career Thought Leaders.
